Head Teacher's Message

As a parent and head teacher I work passionately towards providing every child with a breadth and richness of education.

At Freshford School we understand and appreciate that children learn in a multitude of different ways and that within any school there will be children from a wide variety of backgrounds who bring with them a wealth of different strengths, experiences and interests. Children rise to challenges and we work hard with them to provide these in all aspects of school life.

Embedded in our Christian foundation, our ethos is to deliver a holistic curriculum in a stimulating way within an ‘unhurried’ school, encompassing not only the basic skills of literacy and numeracy, which are the building blocks of a child’s future development, but also nurturing an interest in and a love of the arts, sciences, humanities, world religions and PSHE. In so doing we endeavour to forge vital links with the local and wider community.

We positively encourage social inclusion and children at our school learn to communicate and interact effectively with others, whilst respecting each person as an individual who has something special to offer.

Louis Malaguzzi, one of the founders of the Italian Reggio schools and proponent of the philosophy of offering a child-centered and holistic education from a child’s earliest years, refers to the 100 languages of children. At Freshford we are committed to listening and responding to each and every one of these.
