Freshford School collaboration with Bristol Museum and Art Gallery

Further to letters sent to Bristol Museum after their first visit, and their return trip towards the end of term, we have just heard from Isla Gladstone, Senior Curator (Natural Sciences) that the museum are opening the intervention to their World Wildlife gallery this Thursday, 15th August!
Freshford Church School are acknowledged as a stimulus for the intervention, alongside publication of the landmark IPBES Global Assessment stating that one million species are now threatened with extinction because of humans.
The intervention is called ‘Extinction Voices’ and combines the voices of the children, scientists and the museum. The museum have incorporated quotes from the children’s work with them and their letters – for the chimpanzee’s story, for some of the general panels, and for a specific panel about their letters.
We hope to be able to share some photos as soon as intervention is up and running, but if you’re looking for a day out in this unsettled weather the museum is keen to share this with you and would be happy to meet any Freshford children who may vist.
We are delighted to be working in collaboration with the museum.
