Charity breakfast and poetry exhibition

Friday 14th June Charity breakfast in aid of the Turi Micah Project, Kenya, & Poetry Exhibition

Parents were invited this morning to an exhibition of ‘GREEN’ nature poems that each child had written as part of their reading and writing this term about appreciating, celebrating, protecting and loving our planet.

Both adults and children enjoyed the delights of a delicious and nutritious vegan charity breakfast organised by Joyce Class parents and prepared in conjunction with the children.

An amazing £222.37 was raised to support the Turi Micah Project, a charity in Kenya started by Esther Youlten, (mother to Jack, Ben and Lucy), that provides breakfast for school children at Turi Sulgwita School; children who may have walked to school on empty stomachs: a healthy nutritious breakfast at the start of the day both encourages and enables children to learn.

We are delighted that the funds raised this morning represent the equivalent of a daily breakfast for 370 children for one month. This equates overall to an incredible 11,100 breakfasts.

An enormous thank you to all our parents who helped make the breakfast possible, particularly Robbie, Jen and Victoria, and to everybody who supported this event and help raise money for this cause. Esther Youlten is most appreciative that this will directly support the children at Turi Sulgwita School.
